Zeeland mussel season is back in Luxembourg

Mussel season is one of those moments food lovers look forward to each year. From 1 September, Zeeland mussels will be back on the menu at Le Bistrot and Le Bec Fin in Luxembourg.

Known for their tender texture and delicate briny flavour, these mussels from the Dutch coast take centre stage in a selection of classic recipes throughout the season.

What makes Zeeland mussels special?

Zeeland lies in the southwest of the Netherlands, a coastal region with a long tradition of mussel farming.

Grown in the waters of Zeeland, these mussels are prized for their tender flesh and delicate flavour. Over generations, the region’s maritime expertise has made them a firm favourite well beyond the Netherlands.

From 1 September, you can enjoy them at two Goeres Hotels restaurants in Luxembourg.

Enjoy mussels at Le Bistrot

Overlooking Parc de Merl, Le Bistrot will offer three different ways to enjoy Zeeland mussels.

Choose from mussels in white wine for €25, mussels in cream sauce for €26, or mussels à la provençale for €26.

Whether you prefer the classic white wine recipe, the richness of a cream sauce or the Mediterranean flavours of the Provençal-style version, there is something for every taste.

Zeeland mussels at Le Bec Fin

Zeeland mussels will also be on the menu at Le Bec Fin, ideally located near Luxembourg city centre and the Pétrusse Valley.

Here, guests can enjoy two classic recipes: mussels in white wine for €25 or mussels in cream sauce for €26.

The perfect wine pairing

To complement the mussels, we have selected two white wines from Luxembourg’s Moselle region.

Auxerrois Vieilles Vignes from Domaines Vinsmoselle, available for €9, is dry, rounded and fruity, with notes of pear, apple and peach.

For a fresher and lighter option, Elbling from Cave Gales, available for €7, offers lively acidity with delicate citrus and mineral notes.

Both pair beautifully with the delicate, briny flavours of Zeeland mussels.
